What to Expect During a Reiki Session

Let the practitioner know your needs before you start.

The practitioner will let you know about the procedure and hand placement.

If you have any shyness about being touched please inform the practitioner.

As the session progresses, you will feel more relaxed. If you become uncomfortable, you can adjust your position at any time.

Be sure to ask for anything that will add to your comfort, such as additional support under your knees, a blanket or water. This is your special time and your practitioner is there to help you.

You will be in a peaceful atmosphere. Candles, music and dim lights will be used. This allows the energy to flow more freely.

You may feel the warmness or vibrations from the practitioner's hands. You may even see a vision of the Reiki energy in your mind's eye. If you fall asleep that's ok, the Reiki will still work.

At the end you may feel either full of energy or possibly tired. The practitioner will discuss your session with you.

Remember before and after your session it is vital to drink plenty of water for the following days until your next session. Water allows your body to receive and flow the energy out your body as well as release toxins.

You can receive Reiki as often as you like - daily, weekly and monthly. Sessions can be anywhere from a 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours and vary depending on your needs.
